Obsessing about the Red Carpet at the Oscars for example can hardly be conceived as either 1) utilitarian or 2) promoting the Kingdom-of-God. Is the military a necessary evil? He sees government as instituted by God, and as serving a "subChristian", but God-ordained function. This is very interesting and I salute his term "subChristian".
