When You Can’t Find What You Need, Make It Yourself

If you’re interested in making candles, good luck trying to find some valuable information on how to do that. Sure, it’s easy enough to go to your local craft store, buy a few pounds of wax, scents, and colors. But what if you want to do something exceptional?

There are blogs and how-tos and forums out there for everything. Everything except, it seems, making candles.

Kathy and I really want to start making some candles already. We just don’t know how. And I’m having one time trying to find that info.

I realized that I had just found a niche that needs some filling.

I’m going to create that website that I’m trying to find. Kathy is on board with it. It’s not going to be updated as often as FindingMyFitness, but I’m sure it’ll get frequent updates.

This could also become a pretty good income-booster for us. Even before we have any kind of product to sell, we’ll be able to get some small money via a very few ads and some affiliate sales. I’m sure I’ll also eventually be able to put out some inexpensive material.

There’s not much at all there yet, but let’s give me my first backlinks, eh?. Eventually, you’ll be able to go to the blog to learn how to make candles and see first-hand how we make ours.

Check it out at ourcandlemaking.com. :)

Father’s Day Things

Paraguay could win their division!  I think if Italy doesn’t win their next game, Paraguay will win the division.  I also think that if Paraguay at least ties their next game they are guaranteed to pass to the next level.  That sounds right…if Paraguay ties, they will have 5 points, and if Italy wins they will also have 5 points, and the others will have less, so they will go through.  If Italy doesn’t win, the other team will have 4 points and Paraguay will have 5 (if they at least tie) and will go through. So go Albirroja!

We had a fun barbecue today.  I tried to make it as authentically Paraguayan as I could. I even bought 2 lbs of mandioca (for $6!!!! Robbery!) to go with my beef, ribs, and sausage. The prices are quite similar, but the cuts of meat are tastier down south.  I mean, mine turned out really tasty, but I think the cuts are better (for taste) in Paraguay, for the price. Please to enjoy the slideshow.

It’s Thursday and I have to title.

I forgot to post yesterday. That’s not entirely true…I didn’t have time to post. Anyway, my weight in the morning was 301.8. I’m not sure how that happened, but I’ll take it without complaining.

Today Olivia West was born. I can’t remember what her middle name is, so I’m saying it’s Newton. Just under 7lbs. And now I need a nap!

Rough weekends, but fun

I’ve learned that you really have to be on your game if you want to maintain consistent weight loss while traveling. I am completing a quick, long-weekend trip to Florida and I am nervous for positive results on Wednesday.

When you go to visit someone after dinner and they serve you sausage and cheese, then cake, then fruit, then nuts, you get to a point where you feel rude because you just can’t eat any more. It also makes you realize how important food is to our culture. It’s actually pretty frustrating.

The other problem is that it’s so stinkin’ humid in Florida, you want to be outside as little as possible. I guess I should just suck it up and get used to it. Richmond will be the same way in short order.

I’m just gonna have to push it at the beginning of this week. Maybe I can offset the damage that has been done so far. We’ll have to see on Wednesday.

My New Nephew

aaron1So I got myself a nephew. Actually, Amy got me one. His name is Aaron, and I think his middle name is Thomas after his daddy. He was born last night at 9:48. At this point I don’t know how big he is, but I do know he has a cone head and cries. Just like his daddy. I’m sure I’ll talk about him more as I get to see him again and spend some time with him. I am anxious to have one of those baby naps. If you’ve never had one, listen to me. Find a baby and take a nap with it on your chest. Instant sleeping pill, best nap ever, probably for both of you. Maybe I’ll get one of those on Thursday. I’ll also take more pictures when he comes home. These were snapped maybe 30 minutes after he was born.

My Country Tis Of Thee

Jason and his nephewSweet, sweet land of liberty. Sure, we’re still working on it, but it sure beats the alternative.

I have some new pictures up on my flickr account from the weekend. It was very restful (I think I took more naps than the babies) and just a lovely time spent with family. I took some pictures of the boat that I’m going to make into a set but I have to doctor them up a little.

I hope today was fun for all you Americans and that you enjoyed some cool fireworks. Remember that this is a day to observe the freedom given to us by our founding fathers to worship our Lord without rules and regulations. Let’s remember to use that freedom all the time and to tell our fellow Americans our great our God is.
