Funniest Joke By A Nerd

Ever watch Beauty and the Geek? It’s a silly show that pairs a nerdy guy with a really pretty but also not-so-smart girl. The nerds try to make the girls smarter, and the girls try to make the guys cooler. And they compete against each other. I’ve never watched a whole show, but I caught a bit of it. In this one, the geeks had to do stand-up. This was the funniest joke, as far as I can remember.

“If I designed things, I would have designed allergies differently. Like, I wouldn’t have people be allergic to good things like strawberries and peanuts. I’d have them be allergic to scary, dangerous things like tigers and sharks. [Acts out walking] Uh oh, I have a rash. Where’s that tiger? [Acts out swimming] Oh no, my nose is running. There must be a shark nearby. Oh, there’s rash too. Must be a tiger shark.”

It was the tiger shark part that I thought was the best. Maybe you had to be there.

Mac? No, Lou.

If you don’t know anything about computers or Abbott and Costello, this post is completely lost on you. But because it’s funny to me, I’m hoping someone else will find it funny. This is what the “Who’s On First” skit (video) might have sounded like if it was performed today…

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks. I’m setting up an office in my den and I’m thinking about buying a computer.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name’s Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don’t own a computer. I want to buy one.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name’s Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?
ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?
COSTELLO: I don’t know. What will I see when I look at the windows?
ABBOTT: Wallpaper.
COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.
ABBOTT: Software for Windows?
COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals and track expenses. What do you have?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?
ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?
ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: For my office?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!
ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.
COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let’s just say I’m sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?
ABBOTT: Word.
COSTELLO: What word?
ABBOTT: Word in Office.
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.
ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.
COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?
ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue “W”.
COSTELLO: I’m going to click your blue “w” if you don’t start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: That’s right. What do you have?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?
ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.
COSTELLO: What’s bundled with my computer?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?
ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.
COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?
ABBOTT: One copy.
COSTELLO: Isn’t it illegal to copy money?
ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.
COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?
ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!
(A few days later)
ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?
ABBOTT: Click on “START”…………

I’m just going to leave you with a few more comics. These were in my desk calendar, and what luck…they came two days in a row!

(for the non math-inclined, the square root of 2 and the square root of 3 are both irrational numbers, mathematically speaking)

I Love FoxTrot

I don’t know about you guys, but I love me some comic strips. Not all of them. These days my favourites are Dilbert, Foxtrot, and Peanuts. Especially FoxTrot. Today was a treat as my favorite comic contained a reference to my old friend. Give it a read! (if you click it, you’ll go to Yahoo’s page, and I bet that’s the preferred method of viewing.

FoxTrot

The funnie is that I was going to go as Linus for Halloween. I also tossed around the idea of Charlie Brown’s ghost costume (he’s the one on the right), but I think it would be more comfortable to wear real clothes instead of a sheet.
